“Every day, think as you wake up, Today I am fortunate to have woken up, I am alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use All my energies to develop myself, To expand my heart out to others, To achieve enlightenment for The benefit of all beings, I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry, Or think badly about others, I am going to benefit others As much as I can.” ~Dalai Lama

I began waking up earlier when I began my new job.  College has spoiled me with too many late nights, but the routine of the work week has been enormously beneficial.  I am gradually rising earlier, with less difficulty and more energy each day.

Today I Am Fortunate

My morning routine has evolved from rolling out of bed and rushing to work to include some basic exercise, cleansing and dressing, eating healthy and including vitamins in my diet.  I have found that even on the weekends when I am out exceedingly late and break my routine I can still wake early with little difficulty (although a nap is usually in order later in the day).

I created a piece on my ceiling last spring with the above quote from the Dalai Lama.  It still needs some final touches, but you can get some idea of what it looks like in the image.  Every morning when I wake up I look up and see the wisdom of the Dalai Lama’s words.  My day starts off right and I feel more alive.
